Last Blog about Twilight...I Hope

So, I keep the Twilight Saga at home so it can't distract me at school. I never thought it would be a series I would read numerous times, but when I came home from school back in December I found myself wanting to re-read the series. Partially because of my obsession with the movies before finals, partially because I had read Midnight Sun and wanted to see the parallels between that and Twilight, and partially because I actually enjoy the series.

One thing that I noticed was that it would take me to Forks, Washington each time I picked up the books. Once I got into them, it was near impossible to put them down. I read them at work, when I was getting my nails done, whenever I had a spare moment and the books at hand.

I was actually pleased to find that I was able to read the books even after watching the movies many times over. Unfortunately with the Harry Potter series, I found myself reading the books less and less after their movies came out. I haven't read a Harry Potter book since the sixth movie was released in theaters. I don't know if this is because I don't relate the books to the movies or vice versa, but I have been able to both re-watch the movies and reread the books without diminishing the value of the two.

This being the second time reading the series I found myself thoroughly enjoying every single part of every single book, instead of skimming through parts I didn't find interesting the first time around. The first time I read New Moon I didn't register much because I didn't like the story without Edward in it. (It was my first realization that I was on Team Edward). From that point, any part of the story that did not have Bella with Edward I found myself skimming over. I would watch Twilight and Eclipse the movies more than New Moon--I did not like the story without that pairing. However, this time when reading all the books, I adamantly read every part of every book, not just the parts I knew I enjoyed. It was an interesting experience, because I found myself connecting pieces of this intertwining web that I hadn't connected before, in the books or movies.

Currently I'm starting to re-watch (again) the movies to once again compare them to the books, and even though there are some disgusting missteps in my opinion and some really obvious special effects, but I can rationalize and justify most of the steps they took to create the movies. Combining days and events so the movie is within a more appropriate time frame, etc and so forth. I still find myself enjoying the movies.

Now, the *only* hesitation I have is for this fifth movie coming to theaters next November. I feel that Kristin Stewart does a good portrayal as Bella because she is able to give off the awkward clumsy "human" that Stephanie Meyer describes Bella to be, especially next to the "perfect" vampires. Everyone says it's "bad acting", but I feel that it works with the character. With that being said, I am curious to see how Kristin works with becoming one of the perfect vampires. She won't be able to have that "awkwardness" about her, and we'll be able to see if it's actually her acting or the character.

So I guess this isn't my last blog, I will have to voice my opinion when the last movies is released =P
